Signed for Macclesfield Town on 1 March 2016 and immediately formed an excellent central defensive partnership with George Pilkington. Having made his debut from the substitutes' bench, he was then ever-present in the starting line-up to the end of the season.

For the 2016-17 season again played as a central defender for much of the season although he dropped to the substitutes' bench for several matches in February and March 2017 when Neill Byrne was preferred. At the age of six whilst playing Sunday League football he was spotted by Liverpool whom he joined playing up to Academy level. Then with the youth set up at Leicester City from the age of sixteen on a youth scholarship, he went on to sign his first professional contract in May 2013 although he was to make no senior appearances for the Foxes. Spent time on loan at Torquay United (October 2013–January 2014, 12 appearances) where he made his senior debut on 12 October 2013 and was then loaned to Port Vale (August–September 2015, three appearances). Sold to Barnsley for an undisclosed fee (January–May 2016, two appearances) but was released at the end of his short term contract. In June 2016 he was reunited with his former Port Vale boss, Rob Page, signing a two-year deal at Northampton Town (2016-17, 32 appearances, one goal) but in May 2017 he was transfer listed by new manager Justin Edinburgh. Negotiating his release from Northampton Town he signed a two-year deal at Chesterfield (2017-18, 39 appearances, six goals) but again came up against a new manager when he was made available for a free transfer by Martin Allen. In July 2017 Jak joined Swindon Town (2018-19, 30 appearances, one goal) on a one year deal signing for Phil Brown whose position was taken by Richie Wellens in November 2018.

Released by Swindon Town at the end of his contract, Jak became Macclesfield Town’s first summer signing penning a one-year deal in May 2019. A stop, start season for Jak who had three spells out of action through injury having incurred damaged ankle ligaments early in the season. When fit he was a strong performer in the midfield who proved to be effective with set pieces including scoring a late winning goal at Oldham on 19 October 2019 when he curled a free-kick round the Oldham wall from just outside the area. Whilst he was offerred a new contract for the 2020-21 season, before he could put pen to paper a Winding-up Order was served on the club which subsequently went into liquidation.

Returned to Chesterfield initially signing a short term deal in December 2020 which was quickly changed to an 18 month permanent contract. Unable to agree terms of for the 2022-23 season Jak left Chesterfield on the expiry of his contract on 30 June 2022 dropping down the leagues to sign for Warrington Rylands.  In January 2023 moved to Buxton until the end of the 2023-24 season.

McIlroy Samuel Baxter 'Sammy'

McIlroy_Sammy

1993-94 to 1999-2000 Manager

Matches 384, Won 188, Drawn 88, Lost 108, Win% 48.96

Born in Belfast Sammy moved to English club Manchester United in 1969 to become the last signing by then Matt Busby.  He was promoted to the senior side in 1971 remaining with United until 1982 making over 400 appearances. He then played for Stoke City (1982-85), Manchester City (1985-86), Swedish club Orgryte (1986), Bury (1986-89), on loan to Austrian club Admira Wacker (1988) and Preston North End (1989-1991). Between 1972 and 1987 he made 88 international appearances for Northern Ireland.

Sammy's managerial career started at Northwich Victoria in July 1991 where he was appointed player/manager moving to Ashton United in 1992 for a short spell before his appointment at Macclesfield in May 1993.

In his first season the team won the Drinkwise Cup (the League Cup) and the Staffordshire Senior Cup. He was the Mail on Sunday Manager of the Month for November 1993 and led the Silkmen to the second round of the FA Cup against Crewe having beaten Football league side Hartlepool United in the first round. The team completed the 1993-94 season in seventh position.

In the 1994-95 season the team reached the semi-final of both the League and Staffordshire Senior Cups. The team were champions of the Vauxhall Conference winning 10 consecutive matches between the beginning of October until the  middle of December - a Conference record at the time.  Sammy was awarded Manager of the Month on four occasions - another Conference record at the time and Manager of the Year. Three members of the team Steve Farrelly, Neil Howarth and Martin McDonald were members of the England semi-pro team and Sammy was honoured when he managed the FA XI in a selection match for the International team. During March he was awarded the prestigious Achievement Award from the International Club based in Eire. Unfortunately Macclesfield were not promoted to the Football League as they were unable to meet ground grading regulations on time.

In the 1995 close season Sammy showed his commitment to the Silkmen by turning down a role at Notts County. In the 1995-96 season, in the Conference the team reached the top of the table at the beginning of November, a place they held until mid-February, however, the team dropped to fourth position by the end of the season but they had to play nine matches over sixteen days at the end of the season. They won the Championship Shield, reached the semi-final of the Cheshire Senior Cup, were finalists in the League Cup and won the FA Trophy beating Northwich Victoria 3-1 at Wembley. Sammy was Manager of the Month for March.

The 1996-97 season proved to be exciting and triumphant although tinged with sadness with the tragic death of the chairman, Arthur Jones, in  mid-September. Arthur had spent much of his money ensuring that the ground was up to the standard required of the football authorities as well as supporting Sammy in the purchase of players. The club was in disarray with speculation about it's future but Sammy and his able assistant Gil Prescott got on with the job on a shoestring budget coupled with a team spirit second to none. One of their best signings of the season came in January 1997 when Chris Byrne came to the Moss Rose who was to score many important goals helping the Silkmen win the Conference for a second time, having been some 15 points behind Kidderminster Harriers. The team won the Championship Shield for a second time and were finalists in the League and Cheshire Senior Cups. Sammy was Manager of the Month for March 1997. His comment on winning the Championship was  'We did it for Arthur, Nationwide Division Three here we come'.  It was appropriate that former manager Peter Wragg, representing the Nationwide League, presented Sammy with a magnum of Champagne after the final Conference match at Kettering.

Further success came for the team in their first season (1997-98) in the Football League.  They won the Championship Shield for the third time to equal the record held by Wycombe Wanderers. The team was strengthened with the signing of flying winger Stuart Whittaker and bandana wearing Efe Sodje who cost £30,000. During the season further additions were made by way of Martin McDonald, Ben Sedgemore (fee £20,000) and Keiron Durkan (fee £15,000). The Cheshire Senior Cup was won and Sammy was named Manager of the Month in January and April. Undefeated at home with 19 wins and four draws, despite the woeful away form, the team completed the season as runners-up to Notts County in the Nationwide League Division Three and promoted to Division Two.

The demands of playing in the higher league was a bridge too far facing the likes of Burnley, Manchester City, Fulham, Wigan Athletic, Reading, Preston North End, resulting in  the team completing the season in bottom place with Macclesfield relegated for the first time in their history. With the financial demands of the representatives of the late chairman, Sammy's request for an injection of £50,000 to strengthen the team could not be met and probably impacted on the relegation of the team.

Sammy started the 1999-2000 season in the managerial seat  but his last match as manager for Macclesfield came on 8 January 2000, Sammy having been appointed manager of the Northern Ireland International team.  And  so came to an end Macclesfield's most successful time as a football club.

Sammy managed Northern Ireland for almost three years but only won on five occasions in 29 matches. The team having failed to score as single goal in the eight qualifying matches for Euro 2004, Sammy resigned and re-entered club management with Stockport County where he spent just over a year winning just 14 matches.

In November 2005 he took over as caretaker manager of Conference side Morecambe stepping in for the current manager Jim Harvey who had suffered a heart attack. He guided the team to the Conference play-offs losing to Hereford United. He was appointed permanent manager in May 2006. Morecambe reached the play-offs in 2006-07 when they defeated Exeter City to win promotion to the Football League. In the 2007-08 season they completed their first season in the Football League in 11th position. In the 2008-09 season Sammy again secured 11th position and in 2009-10 fourth position but they were unsuccessful in the play-offs, and having finished in 20th position at the end of the 2010-11 season Sammy left Morecambe by mutual consent.

Since then Sammy has been a member of the media team at Manchester United with an involvement in MUTV.

Joined phoenix club Macclesfield FC in October 2022 in a mentoring capacity assisting the First Team Management Staff both during training sessions and on matchdays. Reduced his commitment to Macclesfield FC due to his work behind the scenes at Manchester United, but was dismissed by Macclesfield FC when there was a wholesale change in the management/recruitment team in October 2023.

Whilst at West Ham represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels. At Orient he was a member of the squad which gained promotion form League Two in third place in 2005-06.

He then moved to the Non-League scene, first with Stevenage Borough in January 2007 (62 appearances, seven goals) gaining a winners’ medal in the 2006-07 FA Trophy and having been transfer listed joined Cambridge United in January 2009 (nine appearances), then Farnborough in August 2009 (75 appearances, 11 goals) where Farnborough were the Southern Football League Premier Division champions in 2009-10. Having left Ebbsfleet he was without a club until he signed a contract with Macclesfield Town in August 2019 until the end of the 2019-20 season. Along with his assistant, resigned as manager at Macclesfield Town on 2 January 2020 after a turbulent time with the Silkmen. Had to manage players' morale when wages went unpaid or were paid late, players withholding their labour and loss of training facilities due to non payment of rent. In the background there were administration difficulties within the club including the issue of a Zero Capacity Safety certificate but significantly from the playing point of view, the English Football  League issued a disciplinary penalty points deduction of 10 points, six applied with immediate effect with four suspended.

On 3 January 2020 was appointed manager of National League side Dagenham & Redbridge. In September 2021 signed an extension to his contract at Dagenham & Redbridge to June 2024 but left the club by mutual consent on 24 February 2023. Stated his career at Watford where he spent six years from 2002 to 2008, graduating from the Academy to the professional ranks in April 2002, making a total of 103 appearances, 60 of which were from the substitutes' bench, in all competitions.  Whilst at Watford he was a member of the team which clinched promotion to the Premier League, played in the Premier League as well as going out on loan to Barnet and Crewe Alexandra. In January 2008 he moved to Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee (79 appearances, three goals), signing initially on loan and then permanently for Norwich City in the 2009-10 season (34 appearances, one goal) but following Norwich's promotion to the Premier League, he found himself out of favour with manager Paul Lambert and moved to MK Dons in August 2011 (seven league appearances), but seeking regular first team football moved to Wycombe Wanderers, initially on loan and then permanently in November 2011 (15 appearances, two goals).

Having been released by Wycombe at the end of the 2011-12 season, Anthony signed a short term contract with Macclesfield at the end of August 2012. With strong competition from other strikers who were achieving success, there were few opportunities for Anthony.

His contract cancelled by mutual agreement in December 2012 after which he signed for Aldershot Town in February 2013 (one appearance) moving to Woking in the summer of 2013 but was released by them at the end of the 2013-14 season.

Would appear that he has retired from playing football as he set up the McNamee Football School in 2015 but seems that it was unsuccessful as it was dissolved in May 2016.

At international level has appeared for the England U19 and U20 sides.

He then signed for Runcorn FC Halton (2002-03 - 39 league appearances, 12 goals) and Hyde United (2003-06 - 108 league appearances, 36 goals).

Matty joined Macclesfield Town on loan from Hyde United for the final two months of the 2005-06 season, a move which was made permanent in the summer of 2006. Able to use his physical strength to good effect and holding the ball up well, Matty was often involved in the build up to and as provider for goals, nevertheless, it was disappointing that his strike rate was on the low side although he did score on his debut.

In August 2007 he opted to move to Stockport County (42 league appearances, five goals) and has since played for Southport (2010-11 - 35 league appearances, five goals) and Chester (2011-12 - 32 league appearances, nine goals) where he suffered a career threatening knee injury resulting him missing the last 10 matches of the 2011-12 season but was, nevertheless, the Supporters' and Manager's Player of the Year. Left Chester in the summer of 2012 when he retired from playing football due to the knee injury.

Formerly with Wrexham and League of Wales side Caernarfon Town, Jimmy moved to the Moss Rose in the summer of 2006 making his senior debut in the first match of the new season, and featured regularly either at left-back or left wing-back giving some assured performances.  His first senior goal was the winning strike in the first round replay of the FA Cup competition at Walsall in November 2006, but only a week later he broke a leg in training, leaving him side-lined until April 2007 when he returned for the penultimate match of the season. Having recovered, he was on loan at Scunthorpe twice (March and July 2010 - nine appearances) when he incurred an ankle injury requiring surgery. In June 2011 he signed for Barnsley (56 appearances, two goals), spending two months on loan at Tranmere Rovers from October 2013 (12 appearances) before signing for Bury in January 2014 (46 appearances). 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2016-17 Midfielder

NC     League 69(40)7     Cups 14(2)2

Debut 14 August 2012 Wrexham (Home)

Jack came through the ranks at Tranmere Rovers and gained experience through loan spells at Burscough, Colwyn Bay, Cammell Laird and Hyde, but signed permanently for Barrow at the beginning of the 2011-12 season.  At Barrow he was a permanent member of team and was their Player of the Year as well as being nominated as one of the top five players in the National Conference most likely to make it into the Football  League.

Jack moved to Macclesfield Town in the summer of 2012. A speedy right sided midfielder whose pace enabled him to pass opponents with ease. It was somewhat baffling at times when other players were preferred by manager Steve King in the starting line up when an asset such as Jack was left on the bench, however, it is acknowledged that Jack has the ability to change the direction of a match when introduced from the substitutes' bench.

The 2013-14 season saw Jack used more often under the managership of John Askey, appearing in the starting line-up on 37 occasions in addition to his appearances from the substitutes' bench.  Jack continued to use his pace to good effect including the many times when he was marked by two players   Of his four goals two stand out: in the league he scored the winning goal in the 3-2 victory against Woking at the Moss Rose, and a brilliant solo winning goal, almost from the bye-line, gave Macclesfield Town a 3-2 win against Brackley Town in the second round of the FA Cup.

Moved to Grimsby Town in the summer of 2014 where his contract was cancelled by mutual consent in January 2016 having made almost 60 appearances in all competitions, immediately signing for Tranmere Rovers.

Re-signed for Macclesfield Town in the summer of 2016. Usually playing on the right wing, Jack again made good use of his pace. He featured in the majority of games in the first half of the 2016-17 season making a total of 26 appearances including nine from the substitutes' bench, with his one goal  scored in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup at North Ferriby United. In the second round of the FA Cup against EFL side Oxford United Jack was most unfortunate to see his splendid shot across the goal hit the far post in the 0-0 draw.

Signed for EFL First Division side Bury on 1 January 2017 for an undisclosed fee.

Returned on loan to Macclesfield in March 2017 for the remainder of the season.  Featured in nine matches as a wide man scoring one goal in the 3-1 home win against Maidstone United but was  recalled by Bury in the middle of April 2017. Signed for Vanarama National League side Wrexham in the summer of 2017 who released him at the end of the 2017-18 season leaving him free to sign for Warrington Town in August 2018. Left Warrington Town on transfer deadline day, 1 February 2021, to join Welsh side Bala Town at a time when it looked as though football from Step 3 and below might not restart during the 2020-21 season due to the pandemic. Returned to Warrington Town in the summer of 2021 and remained for the 2022-23 season. In November 2022 it was reported that Jack was battling a 'potentially career-ending injury'.

Away from football is a director of Kyzen Sports, a tax and accountancy firm based in Liverpool.

Played football as a youngster at Milton Keynes Dons and Luton Town before joining Oxford United at the age of 14, signing his first professional contract with Oxford in the summer of 2012 when he graduated from the Academy. At the end of the 2016-17 season spent time on loan at Welling United having recovered from a knee injury.

Signed for Macclesfield Town in the summer of 2017 on a two-year deal. Although used regularly as a striker, there were many times when he was asked to fill the right wing role especially when a 4-5-1 formation was used.  His 10 goals saw him complete the season as second top-scorer behind Scott Wilson, half his goals coming in the final seven matches of the season, including a brace at Boreham Wood, making a valuable contribution in the run up to the team becoming champions of the Vanarama National League for the 2017-18 season.

In the 2018-19 season Tyrone enjoyed only two continuous periods in the team - September/October 2018 and December 2018/January 2019, otherwise he was in and out of the side and was often an unused sub.  With the striker roles filled by other players, he usually featured on the right side of midfield but unable to hold down a regular place he only appeared on the score sheet on two occasions.

With a year still to run on his contract with Macclesfield Town, his contract was mutually cancelled in July 2019 shortly after which he signed for Boreham Wood. Signed for Stevenage in the summer of 2020 where he made 14 appearances scoring one goal, returning to Boreham Wood on an 18 month-contract at the beginning of February 2021. NC     League 29(3)0     Cups 10(3)0

Debut 1 September 2012 Luton Town (Away)

Carl and his twin brother Callum both played football from a young age.  They began their football careers at the age of 11 playing for Princes Park.  They then played for Sunday football teams including Pinnacle Youth FC, a club founded by their father.  The pair also spent time modelling, notably in an advert for Adidas with footballers such as Arjen Robben and David Trezeguet. They represented England schoolboys under-18s and as such they became the first set of twins to be capped by England.

Both brothers played for Wealdstone (Callum is still a player there), Carl spending six years there from 2003 to 2009 before signing for Crewe Alexandra in October 2009. In his three years with the Railwaymen he made 35 league appearances scoring one goal.

Having been released by Crewe in the summer of 2012, Carl signed for Macclesfield Town. Most of Carl's appearances at centre-back came when he replaced Kieran Charnock and Nat Brown when they were out of action due to injuries in the first half of the 2012-13 season.  Later he was out of action following an operation for a double hernia with post operative complications through a blood clot. He returned for the last few matches of the season but only as an unused substitute. In the 2013-14 season Carl's appearances were spread throughout the season with other central defenders often preferred to him.

Signed for Wealdstone in the summer of 2014 where he remained a member of the playing staff in 2017 but basically ended his playing career at this time due to the effect of previous injuries: also held the appointment of Academy Coach at Watford. In 2018 he was appointed Lead Under 18s Professional Development Coach at Watford. In January 2019 made the move to Southampton where he teamed up with coach Paul Hardyman to oversee the progress of players at Under18s level. With Hardyman appointed interim coach for the U23s, Carl was appointed joint interim U18s Head Coach alongside Louis Carey in March 2020. Following a revamp at Southampton of their professional development phase programme for the 2020-21 season, the Under 23s team became their B team with Carl moving to the first-team coaching staff on a 12-month sabbatical where he spent a full season with Hasenhuttl and his staff taking back the methods and approaches he had learnt back to the Academy where he was appointed game coach for the U18s who won their league for the 2021-22 season resulting in Karl being promoted to the first team backroom staff at Southampton a position he retained on the appointment of Southampton's new manager Russell Martin for the 2023-24 season.

Released by Barnsley  in the summer of 2008 he then signed a permanent contract with Walsall (71 appearances, six goals). Along with six other players he was released by Walsall in the summer of 2010 when he moved to Chesterfield (45 appearances, three goals). First team opportunities were limited following an injury and subsequent surgery with his contract was cancelled in January 2012.

The experienced midfielder immediately signed  for Macclesfield Town until June 2012, enabling him to link up with his best friend Nat Brown whom he played alongside at Huddersfield. Dwayne made an excellent start with the Silkmen scoring on his debut but his match (and season) came to an end in the 81st minute when he incurred an ankle injury. With no improvement to his injury Dwayne underwent surgery in March 2012. Released by Macclesfield at the end of the 2011-12 season.

For the 2015-16 season was manager at Newsome FC (West Riding County Amateur League - Division 2) and assistant manager at Liversedge (NCEL - Premier Division) for the 2016-17 season. Would appear to have left Liversedge as a new management team was appointed by the club for the 2019-20 season. Is a Scout for Manchester United (2021).

Dwayne has gained international honours for the Republic of Ireland at Youth and Under-21 levels.

Away from football operates Mattis School of Motoring in Huddersfield.

Born: 31 July 1981.

Said to come from Crewe but was known in the Macclesfield District. After his debut in December 1905 Maybury was ever present to the end of the season.  However, his first appearance in the 1906-07 season did not take place until 27 October 1906 after which he was virtually ever present until the end of the season,  including an appearance on the losing side in the Cheshire Senior Cup Final against Crewe.  Uncannily all his goals were scored in matches in which Macclesfield were victorious.

On leaving Macclesfield signed for Heywood United.

His brother, Alfred, was also a footballer featuring as goalkeeper for Walsall at the same time that  Jerry was with Macclesfield/Walsall.

Note: an article in the Birmingham Daily Gazette on Friday 22 December 1905 reported that Maybury had signed for Walsall about this time which might account for his absence in the 1906-07 season until late October.

Born in Evreux, Eure, France, Arnaud is a naturalised Bissau-Guinean midfielder for whom he has made one international appearance. He moved from French club Rouen to Derby County's Academy in the summer of 2008 and played in both the academy and reserve sides making his senior debut, which was his sole appearance for the first team, in the 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on 3 October 2009.

A loan to Grimsby Town in October 2009 did not work out as Mike Newell was sacked after Arnaud had made just one appearance, and he returned to Derby playing in the reserve side which won the Central League Championship for the 2009-10 season. A three month loan move to Tranmere from August 2010 saw him make 12 league appearances scoring his first senior goal in the 1-0 win over Peterborough United. At the end of the loan he again returned to Derby playing in the reserve side.

Arnaud signed for Macclesfield in the summer of 2011 but found it difficult to break into the side in the first half of the season.  However, when the side was depleted due to a number of injuries, Arnaud was called on and was ever-present for the second half of the season in the centre of the midfield. His three goals included a splendid goal when he turned and hit the ball from 25 yards out at the Moss Rose to earn Macclesfield a third round replay in the FA Cup against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.

Commenced the 2012-13 season at Macclesfield in his accustomed central midfield position playing as solidly as ever, but the Silkmen lost his services when he moved to Luton Town on loan in October 2012, signing permanently with them  in January 2013. He left Luton Town in February 2014 when he signed for former Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson at Lincoln City. In the summer of 2015 Arnaud signed for another former manager Steve King at Whitehawk. Having been released by Whitehawk signed for Hemel Hempstead in the summer of 2016. Left the UK in September 2017 to sign for Tier 1 Maltese club Naxxar Lions but returned to re-sign for Whitehawk in January 2018. Signed for Welling United in July 2018 joining up again with manager Steve King although he no longer appears to be involved with Welling for the 2019-20 season and may well have returned to France.

At international level has made two appearances for the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.

Is associated with the On Fire Sports Agency as a scout and player liaison.

After his return to Derby he went on loan again to Solihull Motors and then during the 2010-11 season to AFC Telford United where he made 30 league appearances and scored six goals. He signed permanently for Telford in 2011 making a further 16 appearances before moving to Worcester City in January 2012, leaving them at the end of the 2012-13 season having made 30 league appearances and scored four goals. In 2013 he was on the books of Boston United, then Barrow, on loan to King's Lynn and  Corby Town with whom he signed a permanent contract in 2014, remaining there for two years with manager Tommy Wright. His next move was to Tamworth in the summer of 2016 remaining there until January 2017 when he signed for Nuneaton Town. Pablo joined Derby County at the age of 14 and turned professional there at the age 18 in July 2002.  He made 58 league appearances and during his time with the Rams played for England at Under-16, Under-18 and Under-19 levels. In his final season at Derby (2005-06) he spent time on loan at Milton Keynes Dons (16 appearances, one goal) and Walsall (14 appearances). He signed for Rotherham United in July 2006 (136 appearances, three goals), spending time on loan at Crawley Town in 2007, and in 2008 he was appointed Rotherham club captain. On his release from Rotherham he signed permanently for Crawley Town where he was again captain, helping in their Conference promotion season and was named in the Conference Team of the Year for 2010-11. Missing the first three months of the 2001-12 season, on his return, he again helped Crawley to achieve a second successive promotion, on this occasion to League One.

Pablo was released by Crawley in the summer of 2012 and after reviewing his options signed for Macclesfield Town. With the centre-back positions filled initially by other players there were few opportunities for Pablo who was in and out of the side during the first half of the season, but on occasions he played just in front of the back four although his debut was as a centre midfielder when Keiran Murtagh was on international duty. In the second half of the season he was included in the starting line-up on a regular basis but he missed three matches  at the end of January and the beginning of February following his dismissal at Kidderminster. His performances became stronger as the season progressed and he took over the captaincy duties which he carried out well, always giving instructions to fellow team members during matches.  His three goals came in matches in April 2013, the last a bullet header in the 2-1 home win against Cambridge United.

Re-signed for Rotherham United on 30 August 2013 (10 appearances) but was released in January 2014 when he signed for Bury (39 appearances) and whilst there spent time on loan at Cheltenham Town (eight appearances).  Moved to Brackley Town in the summer of 2015 and Mickleover Sports in the summer of 2016 where, in the 2021-22 season, he was mainly employed as a coach making occasional playing appearances.

Played schoolboy football with Vana Street Boys and was captain of the Manchester Schoolboys team who won the Cup and Shield competitions in three consecutive seasons. At senior level he was on the books of New Mills and then Stockport before service in the Army intervened in  World War One. He was awarded two Army medals and played in the 3rd Manchester Regiment football team.

He signed for Macclesfield during the 1919-20 season featuring in three senior matches. In the following two seasons he was basically used as back-up, being kept out of the side by Fred Smith, Chadderton and later William Ingleson. A decisive player who was said to be a quick starter and quick into his stride.

There is a report in the Macclesfield Times that he had signed professional forms with Stockport County in April 1920 (during his time at Macclesfield), which probably explains his reduced number of appearances at Macclesfield where he may well have been registered as an amateur player.

He was an engineer by trade.

Signed for Macclesfield in the summer of 1921 but only appeared in the first two matches of the 1921-22 season at senior level and also in the reserve team.  It would appear that he may well have left Macclesfield early in the season as he does not even appear in the reserve team later in the first half of the season.

Paul Morgan

2008-09 to 2011-12 Defender

FL   League 102(4)1     Cups 11(0)0

Debut 9 August 2008 Shrewsbury Town (Away)

Originally from Northern Ireland Paul represented his country on one occasion at Under-21 level and began his career as a trainee at Preston North End where, having signed a professional contract in May 1997, made one appearance.  He then signed for Keith Alexander at Lincoln City in January 2001 (212 league appearances, two goals), moving to Bury in July 2007 (20 appearances) where injuries and a change of management restricted the number of his appearances.

A season long loan for the 2008-09 season saw Paul at Macclesfield, where he played an important role as a central defender and was the mainstay of the defence often partnered by less experience colleagues. He took over the responsibility of captain when Sean Hessey was injured, and his consistent performances were recognised when he was voted Player of the Year by the supporters. Paul made his move to Macclesfield permanent in the summer of 2009 and other than missing two short spells through injury, he was the first choice at centre-back.  Always had a very professional approach to his game and worked in a very undemonstrative but effective manner.

In the 2010-11 season injury again featured through a broken wrist at the start and ending with a broken arm, both injuries requiring surgery, which reduced the number of Paul’s appearances.

Paul only made three appearances during the whole of the 2011-12 season, although he was often an unused substitute in the middle of the season.  At the start of the season he was still recovering from a broken arm and in January suffered a badly bruised ankle at Wimbledon.  This proved to be his last appearance of the season as later he underwent surgery on both ankles. Released in the summer of 2012 at the end of his contract.

On leaving Macclesfield Paul retired from playing football and set up his own private physiotherapy practice which he combined with the appointments of club physiotherapist at Accrington Stanley (January 2013 to July 2016) and later Bury (2016-17). Appointed Director at Espire Physiotherapy Ltd in Leyland in July 2017. Returned to Accrington Stanley in the summer of 2017 as Academy Lead of Sports Injury Rehabilitation, Prevention and Performance Measurement. In August 2020 was promoted to Head of Sports Medicine. In mid-March 2022 joined Preston North End's Academy as Head of Sports Science and Medicine.

Since September 2019 has been the Senior Physotherapist for the Monserrat National Fooball Team.

Born: Belfast, 23 October 1978.

His third spell came in November-December 1996 again replacing Ryan Price. During his time at the Moss Rose he maintained 10 clean sheets in his 18 appearances.

Phil also spent time on loan at Chesterfield in October 1996 (two appearances) and at Halifax Town in 1997 (one appearance)

On leaving Stoke he moved to Hednesford Town (48 appearances), initially on loan, and then Southport (one appearance) leaving in 2002 after which he probably retired from playing.

Morgan-Smith Amari Aaron

Morgan_Smith_Amari

2012-13 Forward

NC     League 14(10)4     Cups 3(3)1

Debut 1 September 2012 Sub Luton Town (Away)

Began his career in the youth set-up at Wolverhampton Wanderers and was then a trainee at Crewe Alexandra. On being released by Crewe in the summer of 2007 he went on trial with Stockport County along with 150 other players through the club's 'Just Search' campaign, and was one of only two players signed by the Hatters, however, after a month and just one appearance he was released. He then joined Ilkeston Town in the summer of 2008 and helped the club clinch promotion to the Conference North in his first season there. From 2008 to September 2010 Amari made 90 league appearances and scored 34 goals but financial problems at the  club saw him released.  After an unsuccessful trial at Carlisle United, he signed for Luton Town at the end of September 2010 whom he helped to reach the National Conference play-offs on two occasions.  He was out of action injured for much of the 2011-12 season at the end of which he was released when he signed for Macclesfield Town.

Amari was in and out of the team throughout the season and could not establish himself as a regular striker with other players preferred and performing well. He spent a short time on loan at Kidderminster Harriers in January 2013.

Released by Macclesfield at the end of the 2012-13 season, he signed a permanent contract with Kidderminster Harriers, moving to Oldham in July 2014 (13 appearances, two goals), then Cheltenham Town in the summer of 2015 where was a member of their National League champions side and York City in January 2017 gaining a winners' medal in the FA Trophy. Left York City at the end of January 2018 signing an 18 month deal with AFC Telford United moving to Alfreton Town in July 2019. Returned to Kidderminster Harriers in the summer of 2020 remaining under contract until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Amari has earned honours at England C level.

Debut 15 January 2005 Kidderminster Harriers (Home)

A former Manchester City trainee signing his first professional contract in January 1996 (three league appearances, one goal) spending time on loan at Scottish club Ayr United (four appearances), moving to Southend United in August 1998 (76 appearances), Carlisle United in January 2001 (41 appearances, one goal), Oxford United in December 2001

(18 appearances, three goals) and Doncaster Rovers  in July 2002 (30 appearances, one goal).

Signed for Macclesfield Town in January 2005 for a fee of £15,000, which enabled him to link up with Danny Swailes, strengthening the central defence resulting in a run of eight consecutive matches without defeat. Dave was appointed team captain and continued to give some powerful performances and on occasions acted as emergency striker. In the 2006-07 season there were times when he was troubled by injury, but still scored three useful goals when going forward including the 90th minute winner at Torquay in December. In the third round of the FA Cup at Chelsea, Dave elected to take over the ‘keeper’s responsibility for most of the second half when Tommy Lee had been dismissed. Dave missed the start of the 2007-08 season following an ankle operation returning to action in September, however, he left the club towards the end of October when his contract was cancelled by mutual agreement.

Shortly after leaving Macclesfield he signed for Hyde United (47 appearances, four goals). On leaving Hyde moved to Wales to play his football firstly with Bangor City (2009 - 27 appearances) then Caernarfon Town (July 2013), Bala Town (August 2013), Penycae FC (2014) and Caernarfon Town (December 2014) leaving them at the end of the 2014-15 season when he retired from playing at the age of 37.

Debut  10 March 1920 Monk's Hall (Away)

First played for Stoke St Peters in the North Staffordshire Churches League who were First Division Champions during his time there.  He also played for their reserve team who won the League Cup and were Second Division Champions. Next he signed for Fenton FC where he gained winners' medals for the League Cup and Championship. James then signed for Stoke playing in their Birmingham League side and also featured in their 'A' team, this team winning the Hanley and May Bank Cups.

During the First World War he was a private in the Army and whilst based at Liverpool played for Everton. Posted abroad he saw service in France where he was wounded in the knee by a shell. He was in hospital for a considerable time concerned that he might never play football again, but after 16 months he recovered fully.

He signed for Grimsby Town  where he was the reserve and made three appearances, before moving to Macclesfield where he made two senior appearances in the 1919-20 season and 16 in the 1920-21 season.

On leaving Macclesfield played for Whitchurch in the 1921-22 and 1922-23 seasons. He re-signed for Macclesfield in December 1922 when he was described as a hard working, enthusiastic player who added strength to the attack. He went straight into the side and was almost ever-present to the end of the 1922-23 season, but in the next two seasons his appearances reduced as he was in competition with other players.  In the 1924-25 season he displayed his versatility by moving back to the defence.

Moved to Runcorn for the 1925-26 season but re-signed for Macclesfield again for the 1926-27 season when he played in the majority of the matches and scored 27 goals.

1923-24, 1926-27 and 1927-28 Right-half

CL     League 21 Apps 5 Goals

Debut 1 October 1923 Witton Albion (Home)

Initially Reg was a member of the Macclesfield reserve team with almost all of his senior appearances in the 1923-24 season coming between the middle March 1924 and the end of the season when he was ever-present at right-half. At this stage of the season he was the team's penalty taker.

In the 1926-27 and 1927-28 seasons, despite only featuring in six matches Reg played in three three different positions, both defence and attack, his sole goal in this period came whilst playing at centre-forward in the 3-6 home defeat against Altrincham in April 1927. The reason for his lack of appearances maybe a consequence of him incurring an injury and was rather frustrated when the club organised financial aid for another injured player but he was not given any financial aid from the club during the period of his injury.

Debut 27 August 1921 Mossley (Away)

A native of Bolton, he started his career at Black Lane St Andrews' and then moved to Hindley Central.  In the 1911-12 season he was the highest goalscorer in the Bolton Amateur League netting 51 goals. In the 1913-14 season he was playing for Stalybridge Celtic and in the 1914-15 season he played in the Lancashire County Amateur side. He was a serving member of HM Forces for four years in the First World War.

Returned to Stalybridge Celtic at the end of the War and signed for Macclesfield in the summer of 1921, going straight into the senior side and scored on his debut. All his senior appearances came between the beginning of the season and the middle of November with a good goalscoring record, netting nine goals in 15 appearances.

Fred had a good turn of speed, a deadly shot, fine ball control was a deft passer of the ball and always a danger to his opponents. However, in the 1921-22 season various players, including  the very experienced Bob Whittingham, were used in the inside and centre-forward positions and Fred could probably deem himself unlucky to be relegated to the reserve team. During his time at Macclesfield his services were always in demand by other clubs but he said that he did not want to interfere with his occupation as a turner and fitter.

Moss David John

Moss_David

2001-02 to 2003-04 Manager

Matches 102, Won 33, Draws 26, Lost 43, Win% 32.35

His career at youth level started at his home town Witney before moving to Swindon Town in July 1969.  He progressed to the senior side in 1971 and went on to make over 200 league appearances scoring 60 goals. In 1978 he signed for Luton Town where he, again, made over 200 league appearances scoring 88 goals. Whilst at Luton he spent time on loan in 1981 at Tampa Bay Rowdies.  He returned to Swindon in 1985 and then Trowbridge Town in 1986.

Moss  retired from professional football due to a serious Achilles tendon injury joining the coaching staff at Oxford United under Mark Lawrenson. When Brian Horton was appointed manager at Oxford, Moss was promoted to Head Coach for the next five years until Horton was appointed manager at Manchester City, Moss following him as City's Coach and then in 1995 moved along with Horton to Huddersfield Town where he was appointed coach again remaining until 1997 when he lost his job alongside Horton.

Moss's only managerial appointment was at Macclesfield where took over in November 2001 when the team were 21st in the Nationwide League Division 3. The side completed the season in 13th position and reached the third round of the FA Cup losing 2-0 to West Ham United at the Moss Rose in front of a crowd of 5706 and a TV audience of 4.4M.

With an excellent playing budget (Moss paid five figure fees for each of three players) the 2002-03 season saw the team finish in 16th position in the Nationwide League Division Three and reach the third round of the FA Cup again, on this occasion losing 2-0 to Watford at the Moss Rose.

The 2003-04 started on an indifferent note with the team at or about 20th position for much of the time with the supporters regularly expressing their disappointment  both at matches and in the media. Moss was dismissed following another defeat, on this occasion at home to Southend United on 25 October 2003.

Moss will be remembered for his pre-match briefings to diners in the McIlroy Lounge, introducing the pre kick-off players' huddle and the bright orange kit similar to the one in which he found success with Luton Town. Unfortunately his negative attitude to the supporters meant that he never endeared himself to them.

Was Chief Scout of Liverpool's Academy from February 2006 to August 2020.

Having left Liverpool it is assumed that he has retired.

Born: 18 March 1952.

He became a regular member of the senior side from March 2010 and was awarded his first professional contract in April 2010.  Vinny made a total of 27 appearances scoring three goals, including the winning goal in the first round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, and a much needed added time equaliser in the home match against Accrington Stanley in April 2011, bringing to an end a run of four consecutive defeats.

In the 2011-12 season Vinny could not establish himself in the first team, and to give him match experience he spent two separate months on loan at Conference National side Southport where he impressed such that Southport wanted to extend his loan, however, Vinny had to return to Macclesfield in view of the injury crisis. Vinny's sole goal for the Silkmen came late in the 2-2 home draw against Crawley Town in March 2012.

Released in the summer of 2012 at the end of his contract, he signed a short term contract with Barrow, however, less than a month later was on loan at Tamworth followed shortly by his contract at Barrow being terminated by mutual consent. He was then on the books of Droylsden and Stalybridge Celtic before spending short stints at Goole and Salford City at the start of the 2013-14 season. Returned to Southport in 2014 where he made 14 league appearances, and then in quick succession played for Nantwich Town, Colwyn Bay and Gap Connors Quay before signing for Radcliffe Borough in February 2015. Vinny continued his travels when he signed for Oxford City in the summer of 2015, North Ferriby United in the summer of 2016, Hednesford Town in December 2016, Nantwich Town in March 2017 and Redditch United in the summer of 2017, however he suffered an injury in November 2017 which kept him out of contention for the rest of the season.  Since then he had been unable to return as a player continuing his rehabilitation. However, Vinny had been taking his coaching examinations and is involved as a football coach with the Elite Football Academy operating out of the Tyldesley branch. Having recovered from his injury signed for Atherton LR in June 2019 after which he moved to Pennington FC and in December 2021 signed for Sheffield FC joining manager, and former Silkman, Ryan Cresswell.
